SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Right-hander Justin Masterson pitched 4 solid innings to help lead the actual Indians past the D-backs, 7-1, on Tuesday afternoon on Salt River Fields.
Masterson, that is expected to be Clevelands Opening Day time starter, did not allow a success and extended his scoreless ability to eight innings, though he did struggle a bit together with his command in hitting 2 batters and walking a single.
He was good, D-backs boss Kirk Gibson said of Masterson. Hes got a good sinker, threw the ball tricky inside. Hes a good drink pitcher.
The Indians grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second thanks to a give up fly by David Adams.
Lonnie Chisenhall, whos going to be battling with Carlos Santana for the starting job at third base, presented his chances a lift within the fourth when he smacked the two-run homer off Trevor Cahill to extend this Indians lead to 3-0.
Cahill, who was named to start against the Dodgers on March Twenty-three in Sydney, Australia, in the second regular-season game of the year, has been forced to leave the game together with two outs in the fifth inning.
Cahill perceived to land awkwardly on the right leg while masking first base on Jenny Kipnis groundout to first. The team said he sustained a jammed knee and was daily.
Earlier in the inning, the Indians touched Cahill for an additional pair run on Asdrubal Cabreras RBI double.
David Hernandez relieved Cahill, in addition to Michael Brantley promptly drove inside Cabrera to put the Indians up, 5-0, with all of five runs credited for the D-backs starter.
Arizona got on the panel in the bottom of the inning when He Tuiasosopo singled in Martin Prado, but the Indians rounded the games scoring with a couple runs in the ninth.
